Air sealing services in Pueblo West CO - a tighter house that still breathes
Drafty rooms and a hot upstairs usually mean air is leaking into the attic. We seal the gaps without starving your furnace of air.

Is air sealing worth it on a Pueblo West house?
Air sealing services close the gaps where heated and cooled air escapes from a Pueblo West house, around chimneys, furnace and water heater flues, pipes and the attic hatch, so that air stops drifting up into the attic. It's worth doing when the house actually leaks, and I'll tell you if yours doesn't.
Most calls start with a drafty room, a hot upstairs or the room over the garage that never feels right, and the power bill is what finally gets you to pick up the phone. At Sierra Pueblo West Spray Foam Insulation, attics and air sealing done in the right order are what we're best known for. The price comes down to how many gaps are up there and how hard they are to reach, and the schedule turns on attic access and whether attic insulation or added ventilation goes in with it. Once I've been up there, I'll write up what your house needs and in what order. We're licensed and fully insured, and when a job needs a permit, we pull it ourselves.
What happens after you call about air sealing in Pueblo West?
Call or send the form
You call (719) 601-8073 or send the form, and we get back to you to set a time for me to come out. I do the looking myself, so the person who sizes up your attic is the one on site for most of the work.
I look and write it up
I go up in the attic or down in the crawl space and see what's really there, which is rarely what the view from the hatch suggests. You get a write-up of what I'd do and in what order, with nothing on it your house doesn't need.
Our installers do the work
If you go ahead, our installers do the sealing, and I'm on site for most of it. We follow the order on the write-up, so nothing gets covered before it's been checked.
We walk it together
When we're done, I walk the job with you and show you what we sealed and where. Your satisfaction, guaranteed.
Air sealing done in order, and the insulation that goes with it
Before we tighten up a house, I check what burns fuel inside it and where each of those appliances gets its air, because a tight house is great right up until the furnace can't breathe. Sometimes that means the plan includes added ventilation, and I'll say so up front. Then we seal the gaps around chimneys, flues, plumbing and wiring holes, can lights and the attic hatch, using materials made for the heat near anything hot and keeping insulation back from flues. We leave the eave vents open so the attic can still breathe, because a sealed house with a smothered attic just moves the moisture into the framing. Attics are where a house hides its problems, so anything we find along the way gets dealt with before something covers it.
Air sealing usually rides along with other work. When ductwork runs through the attic, closed-cell foam insulation, a dense spray foam that blocks moisture, seals and insulates in one layer and can be worth its higher cost. Without ducts up there, sealing the gaps and topping up blown-in insulation, loose fill sent through a hose, usually wins, and that's what I'll recommend. Down low, the top of a basement wall leaks much like an attic does, so we often seal it while we're doing basement insulation.

Air sealing questions from Pueblo West homeowners
What happens before my house gets air sealed?
The first step is working out how much fresh air the house needs, both for healthy air inside and for venting the furnace, water heater, stove and any fireplace, and in a house with fuel-burning appliances that check comes before any sealing. The attic also gets looked over for live knob-and-tube wiring, vermiculite insulation, roof leaks and attic flooring. Tell me about any bath fan that vents into the attic and any unvented kerosene heater or gas fireplace, because they belong on the same list.
Can I seal my attic air leaks myself?
Doing it yourself won't catch the small, hard-to-find leaks, especially in an older attic that's already covered in insulation. Those leaks sit under the insulation where you can't see them, which is the main reason to hire out the attic part of the job.
What is the best way to plan air sealing and new attic insulation?
Seal first, then insulate, because that order gets you the most energy savings. If new attic insulation is on your list, schedule the sealing ahead of it, since reaching those gaps later means digging back through the fresh insulation.
How much do air sealing services cost in Pueblo West?
There's no honest number until someone has been in your attic, because the price follows how much needs sealing and how hard it is to get to. A low, tight attic, old insulation that has to be moved or pulled out, hot flues and added ventilation push it up, and a roomy attic with a handful of leaks keeps it down. I'll go through it with you on site.
How do I know if air sealing actually worked?
The usual proof is a blower door test, a strong fan set in an outside door that shows how leaky the house is, run before the work and again after. The standard for BPI-certified Envelope Professionals requires testing on both sides of the job, so if numbers matter to you, ask any contractor you're weighing whether they're certified and will test before and after.
Who handles building permits in Pueblo West?
The Pueblo County Building Division handles permits in Pueblo West, since it covers the areas outside Pueblo city limits and Boone. The Pueblo Regional Building Department stopped covering unincorporated Pueblo County, Pueblo West included, at the end of 2025, so older advice pointing you there is out of date. We work in Pueblo West, Pueblo, Cañon City, Fountain, Stratmoor and other cities nearby, and because offices differ between the cities and county areas, we check which one covers your address before we pull a permit ourselves.
Other work that pairs with air sealing
Basement insulation
If the floors over your basement stay cold, insulating down there closes off the bottom of the house the way sealing closes off the top.
Closed-cell foam insulation
Worth a look for a room over the garage or a damp crawl space, where dense foam stops air and moisture in the same layer.
Book an attic look before you insulate
Call (719) 601-8073 or send the form, and have a list ready of anything in the house that burns fuel, any bath fans that vent into the attic and any roof leaks you know about, since that's where I start.
