Attic insulation in Pueblo West CO - a sealed attic, covered evenly to the eaves
Hot upstairs, cold floors or a power bill that keeps climbing? We seal the attic's gaps and bring the insulation up to depth.

What does attic insulation in Pueblo West involve?
Sierra Pueblo West Spray Foam Insulation handles attic insulation in Pueblo West, CO by first sealing the gaps between your attic and the rooms below, then building insulation across the attic floor until it sits well above the joists. Together those two steps cut the energy your house uses and lower your fuel bills.
Most calls start with a room that won't stay comfortable, often the one over the garage, or with someone who just bought the house and has no idea what's in the attic. Before we talk about adding anything, I want to see how many inches are up there and what's under them, because insulation is very good at hiding wet wood, old wiring and a bad flue. Price mostly comes down to the attic's size, the depth already there and how many gaps need sealing. The schedule depends on any repairs that have to come first, like a roof leak. My write-up after the visit tells you what your attic needs and in what order. We're licensed and fully insured, and when a job needs a permit we pull it ourselves.
What happens after you call about your attic?
Call or send the form
Call (719) 601-8073 or send the form, and we'll get back to you to set a time for me to come out. I do the looking myself, since I'm the one planning the work.
I go up and look
I climb into the attic, measure what's there and check for leaks, damp wood, bad vents and anything else insulation shouldn't cover. You get a written plan of what I'd do and in what order, and if your attic is already in good shape, I'll tell you that and not sell you work you don't need.
Our crew does the work
If you go ahead, our installers do the job, and I'm on site for most of it. Repairs and sealing go in first, and insulation goes in last.
We walk it together
When we're done, I walk the attic with you so you can see the depth and the sealed spots for yourself. Then you get your attic back, such as it is. Your satisfaction, guaranteed.
Attic insulation and the work that goes with it
First question is whether you need more at all, and if your joists are already buried deep, I'll tell you you're fine. If the roof leaks or a bath fan blows into the attic, that gets fixed before anything new goes down, because fresh insulation over a wet spot just covers the problem up. Next we seal the openings through the attic floor around can lights, pipes, wires and the hatch with sealant, foam or blocking. That's air sealing, closing the gaps before insulating, so the new layer isn't fighting a draft and less damp air from the house reaches the attic. We staple baffles, or rafter vents, at the eaves so the insulation can't bury the soffit vents and the attic keeps breathing. Then the insulation goes down, as deep at the edges as in the middle, which is where most attics come up short.
Most attic top-ups are blown-in insulation, loose fill we blow through a hose, so the crew isn't carrying rolls through your house. If the attic is only one part of a drafty house, the walls, floors and crawl space fall under home insulation, and I'd rather plan those together than come back twice.

Attic insulation questions from Pueblo West
How do I know if my attic needs more insulation?
If you can easily see the floor joists from the hatch because the insulation is level with them or below them, ENERGY STAR says you should add more. If it sits well above them, adding more may not pay for itself. Their guide puts most attics at about 10 to 14 inches, depending on the material, so a tape measure tells you a lot.
How much does attic insulation cost in Pueblo West?
There's no fair price for an attic until someone has been in it, because two houses the same size can need very different work. A top-up over clean, dry insulation is a much smaller job than one where soaked or dirty old material comes out first or a vent has to be rerouted outside. My write-up from the visit lays out each piece in order, so you can see what the work involves before you decide.
What should be fixed before insulation goes in the attic?
Anything that brings in water or blocks airflow gets fixed first. ENERGY STAR's list includes wet insulation from a leaky roof, moldy or rotted rafters, little or no ventilation, and kitchen, bath or dryer vents that dump moist air into the attic instead of outdoors. A history of ice dams in winter points to serious air leaks too, and any of these can widen the job.
Who handles building permits for Pueblo West projects?
The Pueblo County Building Division handles permits and inspections for Pueblo West, and since the start of 2026 it has taken over the permits the regional building department used to handle. The county issues a permit only to the contractor doing the work, so we check which office covers your address and pull it ourselves when a job needs one. If you want to ask the county directly, the number is 719-583-6100.
Does my insulation contractor need a Pueblo County license?
Yes. Pueblo County requires the right license or registration for construction work in the county, except where its code says otherwise, and it's unlawful to hire someone who doesn't have one. Contractors who register with the county also file proof of liability insurance and either workers' comp or a waiver, so ask to see that when you compare bids, including ours.
How do I handle vermiculite or old wiring in my attic?
Leave vermiculite alone until an approved lab tests it, because this light, pea-size, flaky gray insulation can contain asbestos. Knob and tube wiring, found in houses built before 1930, can be a fire hazard where it touches insulation, so the wiring gets checked first. Both are simple checks that come before anything new goes down, and I look for them when I'm up there.
Other insulation work around the house
Blown-in insulation
When your attic already has a thin layer, blown-in loose fill is usually the simplest way to build it up evenly, right into the tight corners by the eaves.
Home insulation
If the drafts and cold floors aren't just upstairs, we can look at the walls, the floors and the crawl space in the same visit.
